This is the Bullimore Archive of Pictures of 847185 LAC Ronald Bullimore who was a member of C Flight 910 Squadron.Based in 1939 at Goresbrook Road Dagenham. At this time he was LAC later Corporal Ronald George Robert Bullimore of West Ham.The pictures cover the period 1939-1941. He was also part of the waterborne operation of 910 flying balloons from barges off Beckton Gas Works, Barking Power Station and the Ford Works. Some time after 1943, presumably the balloon operation was maybe scaling down a bit, he became an MT driver, based for a while at the underground bomb dump at Harpur Hill, Buxton, and later at Quedgeley, Gloucestershire. He finished the war driving 'Queen Mary's' for the RAF and said that after VE day he was picking up brand new aircraft from various factories and taking them direct to breakers yards without their having flown. All the photos were taken with a standard Kodak Brownie box camera which he obtained via coupons enclosed in Black Cat Cigarettes. Unfortunately Ronald Bullimore died in 1972.It is all the more amazing that he was able to take pictures of this type with such freedom as it was often frowned upon at the time in the interests of "national security". It is also amazing that they have been so well preserved through the years.
I am greatly indebted to Sheila and Peter Bullimore who have spent uncountable hours scanning these in for us so that they might have a wider audience. For Reasons of speed I have limited each page to a maximum of 4 photographs.
Please be patient when downloading the page these are BIG files!!
