The following handwritten notes were complied by 2064968 LACW Margaret Lindsey
during her training in 1942 at Sheffield Norton in Hull.
L.A.C.W. Margaret Lindsey volunteered in 1942 on her 19th birthday. After basic training at Morecambe, Margaret was trained in theory of Balloon Command at Sheffield Norton, and practical experience at site 50 at Hull. The training lasted 18 weeks and Margaret continued as a Balloon Operator until October 1944, when, with the closing of Balloon Operations, she retrained as a RADAR operator serving on the South Coast at RAF Fairlight, a RADAR station separated by the English Channel from the German Airforce bases in France.
Margaret was demobbed in 1945.
